Irene listened, waiting for the impending knock on the door as she closed the book. “Oma?” Rogue asked, bewildered before hearing the thump, thump against the front entrance.

“Go on, child,” Irene told her, smiling as she heard the girl’s footsteps.

“Hi, Cody,” Rogue said, and Irene could see the girl’s large smile as she greeted her playmate.

“Can ya play, Anna?” the boy asked.

“Oma?” Rogue yelled, her voice echoing in the hallway.

“Be back for dinner,” Irene stated, pleased when the door closed.

She saw snapshots of the two running by the river, caught up in a simple game of hide-and-seek. Irene placed the book back on the table and rose, walking back up the stairs until she reached the study. “Did she get tired of your fairy tales already?” Raven asked as the door opened.

“She is out playing with the young Robbins boy,” Irene replied, moving to stand behind her lover.

She could feel the anger radiating off the shapeshifter’s face, knowing the words that would spill forth before it occurred. “I do not want her gallivanting around with him,” Raven stated, rose from her chair and moved to the window.

“They are fine, Raven,” Irene told her, hands moving to her lover’s shoulders, gently kneading them. “His companionship is healthy for her.”

“She does not need his companionship,” Raven bit out, shrugging her grip away..

“Let her be a child for as long as she can,” Irene warned her. “She will never have this time again.”

Irene withdrew her hands and exited the room, leaving Raven alone to brood, knowing all too well how much longer Rogue would be free to be young.

“I won’t! I won’t!” Rogue yelled, fists pounding against the mattress.

“Stop it right now, young lady,” Raven ordered, grabbing her hands and wrenching the girl up.

Tears streamed down her face, eyes red from crying and her voice hoarse. “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!” Rogue screamed, tiny fists flailing against Raven’s chest.

“You do not,” Irene stated, entering the room, intent on diffusing the situation.

“You always leave!” Rogue cried, glaring at Raven before pulling away from her and burying her head in the pillow.

Raven brushed the girl’s hair before pulling her back into her lap, pleased when Rogue laid her head against her shoulder. “Your mother is a busy woman,” Irene said, smiling as the girl seemed to calm down. “You know she has to work.”

“Why can’t I come with you?” Rogue asked, her voice muffled.

“You are not ready for that,” Raven told her, hands running through the girl’s hair and Rogue nodded, curling tighter against Raven’s body.

“She cannot always be here,” Irene continued, before focusing her unseeing gaze on Raven. “Read to her before you go.”

She knew Raven was annoyed by her tone as she exited the room. Irene faltered a few steps outside the door and leaned against the wall, desperately trying to ignore the snapshots of Rogue and Raven, from years later, having trouble reconnecting after a disagreement.

She hated that she could not see their resolution.

Irene woke startled, sweat matted to her hair, her hands gripping the sheets. She turned and retrieved the notepad on the bedside table, quickly scribbling away the premonitions she had seen, seeking release from the images. Her lover shifted on the bed and she sensed the light turning on before Raven leaned against her, peering down at the pad.

“What is it?” she asked, and Irene shut the book, placing it back on the table.

“Do not fret,” Irene replied, pushing Raven against the mattress and slowly removed her shirt.

She focused on evoking pleasure, attempting to erase any remnant of the young man with dead eyes dancing upon a grave, unsure who’s but sensing it was that of someone she loved.

Raven’s body arched into her touch, small gasps of desire emanating from her mouth, keeping her response quiet so as not to disturb their daughter asleep in the next room.

Loved these, especially the second one. Such complicated relationships they have, but so sweet, in a way, too.

They're a very twisted little family and it only gets more demented once Rogue develops her power. :D

I love them! You're making a better world, fulfilling it with Raven/Irene love, ya know?
By the way, the third one kills me. It's so intense. Loveit, loveit, loveit...
