Raven’s eyes narrowed, fists clenched at her sides as she spotted her daughter leaning against the side of the building, laughing at something the Freddy boy had said. She shifted her appearance, mirroring an outfit she had seen another of the teenagers wear before she strode towards the pair.

She watched the girl tense, removing the cigarette from her mouth, quickly dropping it before grounding it out with her shoe. “Uh…I got to go,” Rogue murmured, walking towards her, pushing her covered hands into her pockets.

“We talked about this,” Raven snapped, glaring at the boy as she clasped the girl’s arm, leading her towards their car.

“What? Smoking?” Rogue muttered, angrily buckling up. “Hi, Oma.”

“You don’t like the taste of smoke,” Irene stated, as Raven started the car.

“So…” Rogue said, shrugging. “I don’t like being dragged away from my friends either.”

“He is not your friend,” Raven snapped. “He is only after one thing.”

Irene’s gentle hand on her forearm was the only thing keeping her from saying more. “I was just trying to fit in,” Rogue murmured, leaning forlornly against the window.

“Never be anyone but your self,” Raven replied, looking at her through the rearview mirror.

“Says the shapeshifter,” Rogue muttered, staring out the window.

“Therefore I would know the importance of that statement,” Raven stated, and the girl sighed in defeat. Raven cast a look towards Irene, pleased that her lover’s smile mirrored her own.

“Oh stop grinning, Momma,” Rogue said, glaring at the two. “You’re just as bad, Oma.”

“It could be worse, child,” Irene replied. “She could have made you smoke an entire pack as punishment.”

Raven laughed at the disgusted noise their daughter made before turning serious. “I don’t want you hanging with that boy.”

“Fine, Momma,” Rogue mumbled, grumpily.

“She is only trying to protect you,” Irene stated.

“From what?” Rogue muttered, barely audible.

The world, Raven thought with a sigh, steering them towards the house, knowing this discussion would never be over for the three of them.
