“What’s Momma doing?” Rogue asked, peering into the dining room before ducking back into the kitchen.
She turned to look at Irene before scrambling back to the stool beside the older woman. “Oma?”
Irene smiled warmly at her. “I need the flour,” she stated and Rogue sighed, mimicking her mother’s usual response.
“How can you cook so good when ya can’t see?” Rogue asked, placing the bag on the counter.
“I can see, child.”
Rogue raised an eyebrow. “But Oma…”
“Quiet yourself, little one,” Irene interrupted, and Rogue obeyed.
Irene began showing her how to make pancakes, intent on keeping the girl distracted until Raven was finished with their guest. An hour later, the two sat at the small wooden table, enjoying their meal, when Raven entered.
“It’s finished,” she said and Irene nodded.
“What’s finished?” Rogue asked, presenting her with a plate of pancakes.
“Grown up matters,” Raven replied, ruffling her hair, laughing at their daughter’s pout.
“She is becoming entirely too much like you,” Irene stated.
Rogue giggled and Raven smiled as she began eating, pleased with the ease between all of them.

Her visions were often jumbled, a mixture of sounds, sights, and feelings that she never quite had a grasp of. Those dealing with events in the near future were clearer and easier to read. It was the ones that would not occur for a long time that she disliked, unable to say for certain what would truly happen.
Irene listened to the girl’s laughter, seeing the faces Raven created before she unmasked them, and smiled. Raven had not been the same since the loss of her second child and Irene had sought a way to relieve her lover’s pain. Focusing unseeing eyes upon the pair, her smile faltered, unsure if this was for the best.
“Oma!” Rogue’s cheerful voice caused her to smile at the girl. “I made you a picture. Momma says you’ll know what it looks like.” She didn’t sound very certain about that.
“It’s beautiful, little one,” Irene told her, an image of the picture hung up on the refrigerator flashing before her.
“Can I hang it on the fridge?” Rogue asked.
“Of course,” Irene replied, pressing a kiss on the girl’s forehead before she dashed off.
“I’m not certain what its supposed to be,” Raven informed her, taking a seat on the couch.
“You will in time,” Irene informed her, leaning into her lover’s embrace.
“Where’s the tape?” Rogue cried out, causing Raven to laugh.
When I am gone, don’t forget this love you have for her, she silently pleaded before following Raven into the kitchen to help their daughter.
